Quad Three forms the third phase of the Quad development at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, continuing the evolution of this key life sciences and technology cluster. Designed to support flexible laboratory and office environments, the building responds to the growing demand from domestic and international science markets, reinforcing Harwell’s position within the Space, Energy, Health and Quantum sectors.
Acting as Civil and Structural Engineer, we have delivered the infrastructure, substructure and superstructure design for a new three-storey, circa 75,000 sq ft lab-enabled office building for Advanced Research Clusters (ARC). The structural solution has been carefully developed to provide adaptable, efficient floor plates capable of accommodating varying laboratory loads, vibration performance criteria and future tenant flexibility. Our civil engineering design integrates sustainable drainage, external works and utility coordination to support the wider campus infrastructure.
The scheme has been engineered with sustainability at its core, targeting BREEAM Excellent and a low embodied carbon solution through efficient structural design and material optimisation.
