Project Overview

A derelict unit on the existing Fleets Corner Industrial Estate was demolished to make way for a new Selco retail unit.

The unit had some challenges, one of which involved two electricity pylons being located within the main car park of the unit. The electricity cables then passed over the roof of the new unit. Careful consideration had to be given with respect to the height of the building and working near overhead lines with tall items of plant such as cranes and vibro rigs.

Another challenge involved the presence of ground sand boiling should any foundation excavations be made too deep. Much attention was given in trying to keep the vibroed pad foundations high enough to avoid any sand boiling and low enough so that the required clearance was maintained to the overhead power lines.
