STEAMhouse is a Birmingham City University building that is to be a centre for technology, innovation, creative thinking, prototyping and business development. The existing part of the building was known as The Belmont Works factory and was originally built in 1899; it served as the headquarters for the historic Eccles Rubber and Cycle Company. The renovated section of the building retains many of its original features.

The original three-storey section of the building was façade retention and part rebuild due to fire damage, with a new steel frame behind to restrain and reflect the original framing.

The original section of the building is linked to the new rear extension by a double height glazed atrium.

The new rear extension consists of a five-storey reinforced concrete frame with flat slab construction, stabilised with reinforced concrete shear walls. Foundations were piled. Structure incorporated a landscaped courtyard at fourth floor level and rooftop plant well.
